How the day runs
The backbone of the day is the shared situation picture: the outline of systems, applications, and integrations goes up on the wall. The four-hour format covers what the decision needs most; the eight-hour one also unpacks the risky points.

How is this different from the business architecture workshop?
The business one focuses on capabilities, this one on systems and technology. The two often come one after the other.
Do we need documentation?
Whatever exists helps, but it is not a precondition: the picture comes together from the participants' knowledge.
What happens afterwards?
If deeper analysis is needed, the Application portfolio assessment or the Enterprise architecture target operating model is the continuation.
How many people should take part, and who?
It works best with six to twelve people. Representatives of architecture, operations, and the affected business areas should sit at the same table, together with whoever makes the decision at hand. The workshop is an on-site format, working on a shared wall; it can also be run online.
What do we get after the workshop?
We send the situation picture and the steps needed for the decision in an organised form within a few working days, so it can be used in the decision preparation straight away.
