Business architecture as a service provides this role as a service. Business architecture is part of enterprise architecture, yet it is worth thinking about on its own. EA as a service provides the full role, from the business layer through application and data to technology architecture. Often, though, it pays to focus purely on the business and work close to the business teams: that is what this frame is for. Capabilities, value streams, and business decision support.
How does it connect to governance?
If business architecture governance is in place, we work by its standards. If not, we lay down the most important conventions as part of the frame, and on demand our Business architecture governance service carries the full build-out.
What commercial frame does it run in?
It can be a fixed-price frame, predictable by results, or T&M based billing. We fit it to the situation: a steady rhythm suits the fixed frame, fluctuating load suits T&M.
How much capacity does this mean?
A flexible amount: typically from a few days a month up to weekly presence, adjusted to demand. We review the frame together quarterly.
What happens when we build up our own team?
That is the goal: the knowledge stays with you, documented. We accompany the handover, and the frame can be closed on short notice, with no long-term lock-in.

Scope and fee are agreed together at the start. For well-defined work this is the most predictable form; the business capability map, for example, typically runs this way.

Effort-based billing with a flexible scope. It works best when the task takes shape along the way and quick changes of direction matter.
Architect as a Service
An ongoing arrangement: architect capacity without hiring a full-time specialist. It can be fixed-price and predictable, or ad-hoc involvement; it scales up or down as needs change.
