See the whole operation.

One page showing what the organisation can do today, what is missing, and where to start. Not a 200-page study: a map and a ranked list, in weeks.

Sound familiar?

Leadership cannot see in one view what the organisation is capable of today. So decisions run on gut feeling, and priority goes to whoever is loudest.

Everyone sees their own area.

Sales, operations, and IT each look at a different picture; nobody sees the whole. Questions that cross areas get settled in the management meeting, without data.

Everything is a priority.

The list of development requests is endless, and there is no common basis for ranking them. What gets started gets started because someone fought for it.

Strategy and daily work talk past each other.

The goals are stated, yet projects live their own lives. At year end it is unclear which of them moved the company forward.

Change is ahead, and you do not know what it will be built on.

Growth, reorganisation, a system replacement, or AI adoption is coming, but there is no accurate picture of what all this will be built on.

What you get

  • A one-page map of how the company operates, in business language: what it is capable of today, and what is missing for its goals
  • Processes, systems, and owners assigned to every area
  • A ranked list of where to start, with an executive summary for the decision

The map is not made for us but for you: it works in the management meeting, and it can be brought out for every later decision.

The real map is built from your operation.

How we work

1 Conversations with the key people.

Interviews with the business area leaders and a review of the existing material. We do not send questionnaires: we talk, in your language.

2 A shared map.

We put what the organisation can do today on one page, and verify it with the leaders: everyone should see the same picture.

3 Assessment and priorities.

We measure the goals against the picture and deliver a ranked list: where to start, and why. With an executive summary.

How it looked in practice

Case studyInternational insurance company

A capability map in four weeks, on existing foundations

The challenge

At the insurer, a capability map had already been produced as part of an earlier application portfolio assessment: the capabilities were defined at a high level (down to L3) and assigned to the applications. They were not broken down any further, so the gaps were not visible, and neither was what the business wanted to achieve, starting from the strategy. Meanwhile, application consolidations had begun, and they needed a more detailed picture than the existing map could give.

What we did

We did not start from zero: the existing assessment was a good starting point. We broke the capabilities down to the depth needed, captured the business goals starting from the strategy, and looked at where the gaps are between the goals and today's capabilities.

What came out of it

  • A capability map broken down to the depth needed, with the application assignments kept
  • Capability gaps surfaced and tied to the strategic goals
  • A factual basis for the running application consolidations
  • Half the usual duration: the work was done in four weeks

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take?

Typically 4–12 weeks, depending on the size of the organisation. We can give a precise answer after the first conversation.

How much of our time does it need?

One interview from each key person, and two short joint sessions with leadership: one at the start for the goals, one at the end for the decision. We carry out the rest of the work.

What happens afterwards?

The map and the ranked list are yours, and so is the decision. If you ask, we help with the implementation too, but there is no obligation: the material stands on its own.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the scope: after the quick diagnosis we give an exact offer, either as a fixed price or on a Time & Material basis. The frame is agreed up front; there are no hidden costs.

We already have material: process maps, an earlier assessment. Is it wasted?

No, we build on it: existing material shortens the work. In the case study above, that is why the map was ready in four weeks.

How do you handle confidential information?

We work under a non-disclosure agreement, and we operate an information security management system certified against ISO/IEC 27001:2022.
